Zbigniew Cynkutis was a member of Jerzy Grotowski’s Polish Laboratory Theatre for most of its twenty five year existence, before he founded the Wroclaw Second Studio. This book brings together his collected writings on the theory and practice of actor training, acting and directing, divided into two main parts: a practical manual for the actor, and a collection of reflections, discussions, and practical suggestions on a range of subjects central to the theatre. These include its relationship with culture, ethics, and the shaping of values within theatre groups. The book is lavishly illustrated with over 100 items, including materials from Cynkutis’s own archive.
