Katarzyna Tomaszewska was born in 1987 in Wrocław, Poland. She graduated from the Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław in 2011, where she completed a Masters degree in graphic arts, design and drawing. She has been nominated for the FID Prize International Drawing Contest 2017 and received numerous awards over the years, including the International Association of Art – Europe at the 7th International Biennial Drawing in Pilsen, Austria, 2010. She has also been the recipient of the certificate of excellence at the Chelsea International Fine Art Competition, Agora Gallery, New York in 2015.

“I’ve always believed drawing is the best way of attaining profound knowledge of an object or a person. It is a doctrine and a discipline, through which I reveal the truth about myself. The external breath of the artist and the internal breath of the model, create the third life on paper.” – Katarzyna Tomaszewska

The Basu Foundation for the Arts (BFA) is a not-forprofit, philanthropic organisation established in 1911 and revived in 2014 to encourage and support innovation, experimentation and potential in the arts. Placing the artist at the core, the foundation facilitates a programme of dance, music, sound, performance art, theatre and visual arts exhibitions and residencies both in India and internationally.
