Experience Polish opera music in New Delhi at Katarzyna Chęsy’s concert

To mark the joyous occasion of Christmas, the Polish Institute New Delhi is going to present a musical concert featuring Polish opera singer Katarzyna Chęsy. She will be accompanied by Tomasz Pająk on Fiddle and Phillippe Engel on Piano. Katarzyna is an opera singer, mezzo-soprano. She will present popular Polish and International Christmas Carol and famous Opera songs along with her fellow artists at the India Habitat Centre.


Katarzyna Chęsy

Katarzyna is known from her interpretations of religious songs and songs of Anna German – one of the best and most famous Polish singers. She has a rich experience and have performed across Poland, Kazakhstan, Canada, Switzerland, Russia and Austria. She also works on Classical repertoire.


Tomasz Pająk

Artist Tomasz Pajak has an illustrious carrier in music. He has been a member of world-famous orchestras such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, under Sir Simon Rattle, and the Opera House in Wroclaw, under Ewa Michnik. His artistic projects include a performance with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra for Zubin Mehta’s 80th birthday celebration. As a chamber music performer he undertook venues including Palais des Beaux Arts and Flagey Studio 4 in Brussels.

Tomasz has also participated in international festivals such as Contemporary Music Festival Warsaw Autumn and Idyllwild Arts in Los Angeles. As a member of Duo Berkendal together with Magdalena Sas, he performed across India and Europe at venues including the Art Chamber in Goa. Currently he is a teacher at Delhi Music Society and a violinist in residence at The Neemrana Music Foundation.


Philippe Engel

Philippe, of Polish origin, started playing violin at the conservatory, when he was six years old. At the age of eight years, his musical journey with piano began. After having graduated in Piano and Chamber Music, he completed his studies at the National Conservatory of Music of Paris. He has also studied conducting at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, a leading conservatoire in France. He has been a musical advisor and audio producer in many important theaters such as the Bolshoi in Moscow, the Opernhaus of Berlin or Teatro Reale in Madrid, collaborating with world-acclaimed conductors like Zubin Mehta and Valery Gergiev.

As a pianist and vocal coach, Philippe has extensively performed as soloist, and accompanied famous singers such as Roberto Alagna. In India he had participated in most of the productions of The Neemrana Music Foundation, where he is currently the head of music department.
