Exhibition ‘Absurd – Nonsense – Oxymoron’ in Bengaluru

The Polish Institute New Delhi, in collaboration with its partners, Culture Institution of the City of Szczecin 13muz, Culture.pl and the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath in Bengaluru, is proud to present the exhibition ‘Absurd – Nonsense- Oxymoron’, a unique project encompassing the artistic creations of contemporary Polish artists, at the premises of the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, from 25th of November 2016 onwards.

The ‘Absurd – Nonsense – Oxymoron’ exhibition is going to be a review of provoking reflections artworks, based on the mechanism mentioned in the title, using also grotesque, exaggeration, specific sense of humor. It reveals the issue of evaluation of the reality surrounding us, critic of the political and artistic systems and the artist’s position in social hierarchy. In the perspicacious way it undermine the existing status quo, not avoiding intelligent criticism, humorous punch line, grotesque or absurd lapse. Using the resources and stylistics typical for pop-culture, it is, at the same time, full of nonsense humor, which often purposefully breaks the division between low and high culture. (…)” (dr hab. The exhibition will see the presentation of the artworks of 11 contemporary Polish artists extending through diverse creative fields like videography, photography, street art, wall painting and oil painting. The exhibition will be complemented by a series of workshops conducted by the exhibiting artists, not only for the promising artists but also for all Bangaloreans interested in art and art forms.

The exhibition has been curated by Dr. Bartłomiej Otocki and will see the participation of the following artists: Hubert Czerepok, Wojciech Dada i Rafał Jakubowicz, Maurycy Gomulicki, Artur (Arti) Grabowski, Leszek Knaflewski, Kamil Kuskowski, Krzysztof KED Olszewski, Aleksandra Ska, Katarzyna Szeszycka, Zbigniew Taszycki and Mariusz Waras.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi, the Embassy of India in Warsaw, the President of Szczecin and the Marshal of the West Pomeranian Region have extended their honorable patronage towards this dynamic project.

The exhibition will open on the 25th of November 2016 at 5:00 pm and will be followed by an evening of musical performances by Waclaw Zimpel and the Saagara band.
